This project aims to meet the needs of care, information and support of pregnant women in precarious situation in the Saint-Louis region.
Component 1: Provide support for medical and transport costs to improve access to care during pregnancy, childbirth and the postnatal period.
Component 2: Weekly education sessions on maternal and child health delivered by midwives and community health workers.
Component 3: Provision of complete "good start" kits and assistance for registration of the birth certificate at the town hall
CHILD HEALTH: Nutrimere
Nutrimere promotes improved nutrition for children under five across the northern region of Senegal. The key aim is to reduce chronic malnutrition in children under five.
Component 1: Train mothers (grandmothers) to detect malnutrition in children, teaching them how to use the Mid-Upper Arm Circumference (MUAC) tape that measures MUAC and detects edema;
Component 2: Offer a package of integrated nutrition services for children with severe acute malnutrition (SAM) and moderate acute malnutrition (MAM);
Component 3: Providing de-worming, vitamin A capsules, iron supplementation and Micronutrient Powder (MNP) to children;
Component 4: Referral to relevant health structures
Health promotion is one of the pillars of AGORA's activities. Education and public awareness are essential interventions to achieve lasting change in behavior. AGORA organizes series of activities to fight against cardiovascular diseases:
- Awareness sessions on good eating habits
- Awareness of the dangers of tobacco
- Promotion of the regular practice of a sports activity
